Welcome to Seishin Judo

Seishin is an exciting and very successful club situated in Burgess Hill, West Sussex. And has been awarded the prestigeous Bronze level of the BJA Club Recognition Scheme and the Sport England Clubmark.

We are proud to have the "Clubmark Bronze Award" accredited by Sport England. and have one of the largest mat areas in Sussex.

Sport England Clubmark is a cross-sport quality accreditation for clubs with junior sections. It is awarded by National Governing Bodies (NGB`s) in our case the British Judo Association and County Sport Partnerships (CSPs) in recognition of a quality club. For more information look in the News section of our Club Information pages.

Instructors/Coaches:- Judo players are not automatically instructors simply by gaining their black belt. They need the ability, integrity, technical knowledge, desire and understanding to instruct and teach others, regardless of the students ability. At Seishin all of our coaches are fully qualified and certified with the British Judo Association (the National Governing Body for Judo in the UK) and offer quality and safe instruction to both Seniors and Juniors.

Many clubs believe that all that matters is winning medals, that is certainly not the case with us. Our training is structured for all abilities in both Competitive and Traditional Judo in the Kodokan style.

All are welcome: Seniors, Juniors, Male, Female, Beginners and Experienced alike. Judo is an ideal sport and martial art for all ages. It provides an ideal form of physical exercise, improving stamina, strength and overall fitness. In addition Judo teaches etiquette, respect, self-discipline and improves confidence.

However, it is fair to say that that in 2006 Seishin won over 55 medals. Quite an achievement for a club that does not put competition as its top priority!!

Seishin complies fully with all aspects of the Child Protection Act and has its own specialist Child Protection Officer. Everyone is treated fairly and equally regardless of race, gender, background or ability.

Seishins Child Protection Policy and Equity Policy are available to all members.

Above all, our most important priority are the students and their needs.

All Instructors are fully CRB checked and fully Insured.

As always, the first session is free. Come along and see for yourself.

Seishin is fully registered with the British Judo Association (the National Governing Body for Judo in the UK) BJA Club No 2545
